07-days Laos Travel. Mysterious Laos
Laos is considered as Southeast Asia’s most pristine environment with intact cultures and quite possibly the most chilled-out people on the earth. It is located on the axis of the Lower Mekong River and shares borders with Vietnam to the east, Cambodia to the south, Thailand to the west, and Myanmar and China to the north. Most of the country is covered by mountains and rivers, giving its stunning natural landscapes.
The Xieng Khuang Plateau is located at the northern end of the Anamneses Cordillera, the principal mountain range of Indochina. Scattered in the landscape of the Xieng Khuang plateau are thousands of megalithic jars. Many studies have been done but no clear explanation for why these jars were used is found. There are more than 60 sites of stone jars in different groups on the vast plateau. The ones called Site 1, Site 2 and Site 3 are opened to visitors. The sizes of these jars are various. The majority is 1.5 meter high, but the biggest one can reach a height of 3.25 meters.
Luang Prabang is a wonderful patchwork of traditional Lao wooden houses and hints of European architecture. Golden-roofed temples, decorated with mosaics and murals of the life of Buddha are the places that you cannot ignore once visiting Laos. Wat Xieng Thong is one of the finest pagodas in Luang Prabang.
