Being compared to the beating heart of Hanoi capital, Hanoi Old Quarter has passed a long development history of 2000 years. In here, the bustling life of the city people is reflected in the most vivid way with crowded streets of people trading with others.

The Old Quarter has the original street layout and architecture of old Hanoi. It consists mainly of 36 old streets divided and named according to their craft guides in the past . Each street then had merchants and households specialized in a particular trade, such as silk traders, jewellery, etc. Local cuisine specialties as well as several clubs and bars can be found here also.

Visitors will certainly be eager to wander along the old street to drop by stores and by specialties. Here is an essential guide for tourists to explore the Old Quarter, with some names of specialized streets: China bowls (Bat Su), roasted fish (Cha Ca), silver or jewelries (Hang Bac), women accessories (Cau Go), shoes and sandals (Hang Dau), silk (Hang Gai), mixed fruits (To Tich), tour services (Ma May), candy and dried apricot (Hang Duong), bamboo products (Hang Buom), etc.
